The Differential Gear is a component of the powertrain arrangement in a vehicle. It is designed to distribute torque between the drive wheels. It allows each wheel to rotate at a different speed while transmitting power from the driveshaft to the axle shafts. The differential uses bevel gears, to achieve this torque distribution. Bevel gears have conical-shaped teeth and are mounted at an angle to transfer power between perpendicular shafts. It allows the rotational motion from the driveshaft to be redirected towards the axle shafts, enabling torque distribution to the drive wheels.
